Experience and Education


Bachelor's degree with minimum twelve (12) hours in accounting and five (5) years progressively responsible experience in governmental and/or commercial accounting.  

Job Duties


Plans, supervises, and participates in work of assigned organizational unit.      

Maintains internal accounting procedures, clerical operations, and workflow to achieve maximum efficiency.      

Evaluates work in process and determines work priorities for staff of accountants, accounting clerks, or both.    

Performs several, but not all of, the following functions: advises principle investigators and other management personnel regarding planning and revising of budgets to ensure that monies are expended correctly; prepares and/or coordinates preparation of monthly financial reports, schedules for annual financial reports, and reports to various government agencies, ensuring adherence to applicable procedures and regulations of UT System and Federal and State agencies concerned.

Reviews current accounting procedures and reporting procedures and internal controls; recommends more efficient procedures.     

Supervises unit or multiple units of Accountants or Accounting Clerks.     

Performs other duties as assigned.
