Experience and Education
2.Primary responsibility for the development and the implementation of a robust framework and strategic planning process that enhances institutional compliance as a core value of the institution.
3.Oversees the operation of the compliance programs.
4.As a member of the Policy Executive Committee, participates in the review and revision of institutional policies and procedures to ensure they are adequate to mitigate risk and to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
5.Develops and periodically reviews and updates the Code of Conduct to ensure continuing currency and relevance in providing guidance to management and employees.
6.Collaborates with University and hospital departments to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution. Consults with the Counsel as needed to resolve difficult legal compliance issues.
7.Responds to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and codes of conduct by evaluating and initiating investigative procedures. Develops and oversees a system for uniform handling of such violations.
8.Oversees HIPAA policies; including assured compliance with standards of privacy, security and data standardization of personal health information required by federal HIPAA and state privacy legislation.
9.Acts as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance issues/concerns are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved.
10.Monitors and as necessary coordinates compliance activities of corporate and hospital departments to remain abreast of the status of all compliance activities and to identify trends.
11.Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for the resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
12.Ensures proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate and/or required.
13.Implements, facilitates and maintains an effective compliance communication program for the organization, including promoting (a) use of the compliance hotline, (b) heightened awareness of Company code of conduct, and (c) understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures.
14.Prepares quarterly reports to the Compliance Committee detailing compliance initiatives throughout the year as well as recommending improvements/changes in the overall compliance program.
