The UT Southwestern Medical Center Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management seeks an outstanding cardiothoracic anesthesiologist with a strong interest in pursuing an academic career at the rank of Assistant Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. Rank will be determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate.
Successful completion of an Anesthesiology-based Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology fellowship is required, as responsibilities include: direct patient care in cardiothoracic and general anesthesiology; and teaching and supervision of anesthesiology residents and fellows, medical students, and other trainees. Applicants must have or be able to obtain a Texas medical license prior to employment and be BC/BE with the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). Candidates are appointed as Assistant Instructors if they do not have board certification at hire; continued employment will be contingent upon receipt of ABA certification within two (2) years of initial hire date. TEE certification must be obtained within two (2) years of subspecialty training completion. Extra consideration for this position will be given to candidates with demonstrated training, TEE certification, and/or experience in the field.
