The Department of Cell Biology at UT Southwestern Medical Center is recruiting.
Qualified candidates are expected to develop a robust and sustainable research program, to recruit and train outstanding students and postdocs, and to compete for external funding from e.g., NIH, NSF, Welch and other public or private funding agencies. After the first year, we anticipate participation in teaching activities (10% effort), as described below.
Teaching Activities: After the first year, we anticipate that the candidate will participate in Medical and/or Graduate school teaching, as doing so is an important part of our mission. Teaching in the Medical School is likely to involve ¿1 lecture/year, whereas involvement in the Graduate School will be more comprehensive, involving didactic lectures, and participation in journal clubs, discussion groups, and mini-courses depending on teh candidate's research interests. Participation in Graduate School training endeavors in year 1 of employment is voluntary, but encouraged, as doing so will be mutually beneficial. This position is necessary to build upon the succssful research that is occurring in our departmen and create synergy with other departments across campus. Qualified candidates must possess a Ph.D. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
