Clinical/Counseling Psychologist ¿ Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic
Categories: Faculty / Physician
Full/Part Time/PRN: Full-Time
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Department of Psychiatry, Division of Psychology, is seeking an outstanding clinical or counseling psychologist position in our Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. The position is primarily clinical, as we are looking for a talented psychotherapist who is well-trained in providing effective outpatient therapy within a time-limited framework. The Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic serves a diverse patient population, most of whom are referred from within the larger UT Southwestern hospital and clinic system. UT Southwestern is a large, cutting edge medical system which includes the William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital, Zale Lipshy University Hospital, and partners with other major teaching hospitals in the Southwestern Medical District, including Children's Health Children's Medical Center Dallas and Parkland Health and Hospital Systems.
In addition to the primary responsibility of providing outpatient therapy, the position also may involve some intake/evaluation, as needed within the clinic. Primary patient presentations include depression, anxiety, OCD, addiction, and complications of medical comorbidities, which are common in our patients given their tendency to be referred from within our medical system, which is largely comprised of specialty-level care. The faculty member will also have opportunities for providing supervision of pre- and post-doctoral trainees, and participation in the overall academic mission, with opportunities for involvement in our APA accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology.
We are seeking a candidate who is an expert in providing effective general outpatient therapy to adults of all ages. Applicants possessing therapy training and experience which evidence further levels of specialty capability (such as specific expertise in the treatment of any specific symptom set or diagnoses) will be given additional weight in consideration. While Texas licensure is not required for consideration or selection for the position, it is a pre-requisite for starting in the position.
