The UT Southwestern Medical Center Department of Psychiatry, Division of Psychology, is seeking an outstanding clinical psychologist for an Assistant Professor position. The position is primarily clinical with opportunities to participate in research activities through the Cancer Center and across the University. UT Southwestern is a large, cutting edge medical system which includes the William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital, Zale Lipshy University Hospital, and partners with other major teaching hospitals including Children's Health¿ Children's Medical Center Dallas and Parkland Health and Hospital Systems.
This position will be located in the Supportive Care Program within the Harold C. Simmons Cancer Center and larger University Hospital system. The Simmons Cancer Center is one of the elite cancer centers in the country, and the only NCI designated comprehensive cancer center in North Texas. The Supportive Care Program is a multi-disciplinary program including Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Nutrition, Palliative Care, Pain Management, and Chaplain Services. Responsibilities of the psychologist include provision of clinical assessment, brief therapy and biopsychosocial intervention, consultation, and program development. Opportunities also exist for involvement in our APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology.
We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in health psychology and brief therapeutic intervention. Candidates with specific experience in pain management, palliative care, and working in an oncology setting will be considered especially competitive. Further preference may be given to board certified clinicians and to Spanish bilingual candidates. Academic rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full time schedule.
