The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Department of Psychiatry, Division of Psychology, is seeking an outstanding clinical psychologist for an Assistant Professor position in our Zale Lipshy Hospital. The position is primarily clinical, and will focus on providing therapy, assessment, and consultation in support of patients who are admitted to the hospital. The psychologist will work in the Inpatient Psychiatry unit but will also provide consult/liaison coverage for other services as needed. The Inpatient Psychiatry Unit serves range of acute and chronic issues. A large portion of the patients struggle with recalcitrant depression, although there is also a significant subset of geriatric patients with neuropsychiatric conditions, though anxiety, psychotic, and personality disorders are also seen. The unit will also be part of an expanding substance use disorder treatment continuum, so a portion of the beds will be dedicated for patients with acute addictions presentations. Zale Lipshy Hospital is part of the rapidly growing UT Southwestern Medical Center, a large, cutting edge medical system which also includes the William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital, numerous outpatient specialty clinics and programs, and partners with other major teaching hospitals in the Southwestern Medical District, including Children's Health¿ Children's Medical Center Dallas and Parkland Health and Hospital Systems.
In addition to the primary clinical responsibilities of providing inpatient assessment and intervention services, the faculty member will also have opportunities for providing supervision of pre- and post-doctoral trainees, and participation in the overall academic mission, with opportunities for involvement in our APA accredited doctoral program and internship in Clinical Psychology.
We are seeking a candidate who has experience/expertise in one or more of the following areas: providing inpatient intervention, providing substance use disorder treatment, and providing consult/liaison services to a medical inpatient facility. While Texas licensure is not required for consideration or selection for the position, it is a pre-requisite for starting in the position.
