Experience and Education

Bachelor's degree in a related field and (10) ten years of applicable experience required.

Job Duties

1.  The Director of Building Maintenance will oversee building maintenance and operations, grounds maintenance, custodial support, and deferred maintenance capital program ensuring facilities are reliable and properly maintained.
2.  Plan, organize, control, and direct operations and activities in the preventative, scheduled, and responsive maintenance of all campus facilities, which includes elevator, carpentry, electrical work,  plumbing, painting, landscaping, sheet metal, and general custodial and building and garage maintenance.
3.  Inspect completed projects for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established requirements and specifications.
4.  Responsible for planning, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls, which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, and financial information is reliable.
5.  Develop and maintain annual departmental budgets.  Review, monitor, and evaluate budgets and financial data of all areas supervised. Control and authorize expenditures in accordance with authorized parameters.
6.  Serve on assigned committees and perform other related duties as assigned ensuring that all activities conform to government regulations protecting health, safety, and rights of employees and the public (including but not limited to asbestos, hazardous chemicals, and handicap access).
7.  Oversee custodial contracts and off-site clinic maintenance contract arranging for the services of outside contractors as needed.
8.  Assist in the selection, assignment, scheduling, training, discipline and evaluation of maintenance staff and direct reports.
9.  Assure that all related functions comply with all applicable laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, policies, and procedures.
