The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Department of Neurology and Neurotherapeutics invites faculty applications for the position of Director of the Epilepsy Section. Physician scientists and clinician investigators with expertise in adult or pediatric epilepsy are encouraged to apply. UT Southwestern is a Level 4 epilepsy center designated by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. The new Director will be responsible for the leadership of a dynamic research program as well as a large academic clinical practice in epilepsy that draw upon campus-wide resources from UT Southwestern Medical Center, Parkland Memorial Hospital and Children's Medical Center. Within the next 18 months, a new 862-bed Parkland Hospital and a new 460-bed UT Southwestern Clements University Hospital will open, and the 152-bed Zale Lipshy University Hospital will be converted into a Neuroscience Hospital. Additional areas of programmatic growth at these facilities include two new Epilepsy Monitoring Units and programs in traumatic brain injury, functional neurosurgery and neurocritical care.
The candidate should have a record which includes academic achievement, excellence in teaching, and extramural research funding. The candidate should be board certified in Neurology, eligible for Texas medical licensure, and qualified for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
