Experience and Education
Manager or Supervisor with at least three (3) years as hospital clinical staff Pharmacist; ASHP residency preferred. B.S. or Pharm D. degree from ACPE accredited college pharmacy. Sterile compounding (IV) certification accredited by ACPE. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Maintains departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Adheres to and enforces hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Reviews current policies and recommends revisions to department’s Assistant Director of Pharmacy. Coordinates departmental performance improvement process by assuring active staff participation and that all PI projects and reports are completed as scheduled. Schedules departmental personnel, assuring staffing that meets patient care needs within budgetary guidelines.
Establishes and monitors departmental schedules, priorities and workload to ensure that patient care needs are met.
Assures accurate dispensing of pharmaceuticals and preparation of parenteral products by professional and technical staff.
Monitors departmental productivity by comparing actual budgeted activity, monitoring census and patient acuity and collecting and managing computerized productivity monitors. Coordinates computerized automation of departmental functions. Communicates with Information Systems Department regarding needs for problem resolution or operational improvements. Develops and maintains training program for departmental computer system and any other ancillary computerized functions. Monitors departmental needs for programming modifications.
Manages personnel by recruiting employees, establishing annual performance goals, assessing performance, making recommendations for personnel actions, orienting new employees and providing ongoing training for department. Determines staff training needs and schedules in-service education programs and assures documentation of activities. Ensures all training documentation are complete. Interviews and selects qualified employees.
