Experience and Education
Graduation from High School or GED and no experience required. Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
Performs established patient care routines such as local wound care involving removal of bandages, cleaning of wound, redressing, skin care, routine passive range of motion, supervision of routine active and resistive exercise programs performed by patient, gait maintenance and practice, and tilt table programs.
Applies and removes specific modalities such as hot packs, paraffin, and traction units.
Assists physical therapists in patient treatment by preparing and/or positioning patients for treatment as directed, assembling required supplies and equipment and getting patients in and out of hydrotherapy tanks and whirlpools.
Provides assistance to patients with respect to their personal needs such as dressing, bedpans, and urinals.
Transports patients to and from physical therapy sessions as requested by physical therapist or physician.
Cleans facilities and equipment, including hydrotherapy rooms and equipment.
Assists in ordering and record-keeping of expendable supplies, such as linen, crutches, canes, paraffin, wound supplies, etc.
Performs variety of miscellaneous duties such as picking up and delivering hospital charts and records, relaying messages, delivering schedules, etc.
Duties performed may include one or more of the following core functions: a) Directly interacting with or caring for patients; b) Directly interacting with or caring for human-subjects research participants; c) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting patient records (including patient financial records); or d) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting human-subjects research records.
**Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
Assist physical therapists with patient care exercise program and modalities: Basic setup/theory of ROM/flexibility exercise, Spinal stabilization exercise, Active and resistive exercises (theraband, free weights), Gait and balance, Ultrasound and Cold Laser, Electrical stimulation, Cervical and Lumbar Mechanical Traction, Hot and Cold Packs
Assist physical therapists with patient management: Basic setup and modification of equipment, Gait equipment setup and assistance, Vital sign monitoring, HEPs, Ordering DME, Patient positioning (support/draping), Research patients, Patient flow into/out of gym
Clean and maintain clinic and equipment: Plinth/equipment disinfection and changing pillowcases, Laundry, Gym, treatment rooms, supply closet, and cabinet organization, Monthly clinic cleaning (electrodes, dusting, hydrocollators)
Assist in ordering and record keeping of supplies.
Perform administrative duties: Enter patients into scheduling system, Verify insurance, Answering phones and phone management, Collect patient co-pays, Fax therapist notes/prescription renewals to physicians, New patient paperwork, Scanning, Patient check in/out
