Experience and Education


 

 

 

 

Masters degree in related field such as Biostatistics or Computer Science and two (2) years research data analysis experience directly related to the type of database building and maintenance including experience working with and maintaining large complex databases along with database analysis experience, OR;
Bachelor's degree in related field such as Biostatistics or Computer Science and four (4) years research data analysis experience directly related to the type of database building and maintenance including experience working with maintaining large complex databases along with database analysis experience.

 

 

 

Job Duties


  • Extract and transform raw data from multiple projects into usable forms that can be subsequently loaded in the database.      
  • Write more complex code for database access, modification and construction.      
  • Prepare detailed reports for publications.       
  • Work with Project Analysts and Project Coordinators to provide complex data analysis and ensure the highest quality data and utilities are produced and project needs are met in a timely manner.    
  • Prepare and maintain form and procedure manuals to affect implementation and continuing operation of computer application systems.     
  • Assist in training of Data Analysts and Project Assistants.       
  • Performs other duties as assigned.       

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This position will form the core of a full-time staff dedicated to Hepatitis C Surveillance for Texas.  These positons will be housed in Austin at the Department of Health and Human Services (DSHS) HIV/STD/TB/Viral Hepatitis Surveillance and Prevention offices.  These positions will work collaboratively with DSHS, CDC, and other investigators to design and conduct data analysis using viral hepatitis surveillance data.  Expected duties include the management and analyzes of electronic laboratory data and development of algorithms to differentiate possible acute cases from chronic cases.  Develop mechanisms for managing pending investigations that will include:  Reports and tools to routinely identify gaps in reporting timeliness, completeness and accuracy; matching viral hepatitis surveillance data to other data systems to improve completeness of reporting and identify co-morbidities; use auxiliary data sources to estimate high prevalence populations; provision of guidance, technical assistance and monitoring to local and regional health department; and serves as subject matter experts in developing modules for vial hepatitis reporting in the integrated data systems.  These positions will also be responsible for writing reports, abstracts, and peer-reviewed journal articles in collaboration with CDC and other investigators.
