Experience and Education

High school diploma, or GED, or vocational school and five (5) years journey level experience in operation and maintenance of electrical generation facility with three (3) years in central utilities plan environment is required. **CFC certification is required.**
Preferred: Completion of certified operator program and experience in university physical plant environment.

Job Duties

Starts up, shuts down, and adjusts power plant and/or chilling station equipment or systems in accordance with established operational and safety procedures.
Operates switchboards and synchronizes generators. Adjusts frequency, voltage, and loads on 12kV and 4.16kV system.
Cleans and maintains equipment and work areas. Monitors equipment and maintains records of equipment operational status.
Monitors equipment and maintains records of operating status. Operates control computer systems.
Troubleshoots and analyzes problems based on equipment operation records. Initiates process changes and implements solutions.
Performs detailed inspections of operating equipment for proper operation.
Informs appropriate personnel of unusual conditions, problems or deficiencies and takes action.
Initiates and completes work orders using automated maintenance program systems. Identifies and reports safety hazards and equipment malfunctions.
Supervises support staff as needed. Attends meetings and training courses. Trains new personnel as required.
May perform preventative or corrective maintenance tasks incidental to operation of mechanical or electrical systems.
Performs other duties as assigned.
