Develops or oversees development of budget for program.
Develops, cultivates, and maintains working relationships with internal/external departments/agencies and other organizations associated with and/or receiving benefit from program.
Establishes program goals and objectives and directs program evaluation and quality control activities; develops and/or approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals.
Plans and coordinates special events. Participates in conferences. Presents data and program information.
Responsible for design, execution, and effectiveness of system of internal controls, which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, and financial information is reliable.
Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Reads literature and attends functions to keep abreast of relevant scientific and technical developments related to program.
May provide supervision to staff members.
As a member of the Department of Ophthalmology Education Office, this position coordinates annual CME conferences, CME events, and annual dinner/awards event. Coordinates with course directors to confirm speakers, dates, agendas, educational objectives, and target audiences and coordinates course approval through the UTSW CME Offices. Coordinates and communicates course specifics to guest lectures of the University and reconciles all travel components of their visits. Develops and oversees production of program materials, reserves venues, coordinates AV needs and support, facilities setup, catering, housekeeping, etc. Manages staffing activities, registration, tracks attendees and creates all related materials. Develops and oversees budgets related to educational programs. Obligate and track expenditures for educational programs. Solicit sponsorship of educational programs, and coordinate with CME department to secure letters of agreement and track receipt of funding. Maintains working knowledge of Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) standards of commercial support.
