Experience and Education
Leads, trains and motivates staff. Assists Manager with daily operations and department schedule. Assures staff coverage. Assumes supervisory decision making and accountability in absence of Director or Manager.
Registers and pre-registers patients for scheduled and unscheduled services, inpatient and outpatient procedures and emergency services with 98% accuracy rate. Maintains departmental productivity standards for PAS.
Interviews patients and/or their representative to obtain personal and demographic information or verify information already on file. Documents appropriate information on computer system based upon department documentation standards.
Verifies that patient has been properly identified to prevent multiple medical record numbers campus wide. Attains 98% accuracy rate. Maintains departmental productivity standards for PAS. Maintains adequate supply of forms, brochures and supplies used in Patient Access Services Department.
Performs accurate and timely deployment of legal, ethical and compliance consent forms and documents. Initiates Advance Directive process.
Initiates, obtains and or updates verification and pre-certification as appropriate for patient services for each patient account.
Coordinates accurate patient data to determine financial obligation. Collects insurance co-payments, deductible amounts, self-pay deposits and patient balances from patient and/or guarantor and documents on computer system based upon department documentation standards.
Works in collaborative manner with peers and other hospital departments. Attends and participates in meetings.
Maintains current policies and procedures. Assures compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations and assists Director with JCAHO preparation.
Assists manager in timely and accurate distribution and completion of relevant departmental reports. Tracks key performance indicators as designed by department Director. Completes special projects as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigend.
