Experience and Education
Two (2) years college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment and two (2) years of laboratory experience at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent.
High school graduation or GED and four (4) years laboratory experience to include two (2) years at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent.
Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
Records research data in accordance with prescribed procedures, discussing results with supervisor.
Assists in collection of data for project reports.
Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning implementation of new procedures.
May plan for, and provide working supervision to, work of laboratory personnel of lower grade engaged in limited phase of research project.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Provide general lab support by making solutions, dishwashing, autoclaving, cleaning, ordering/inventory/stocking of laboratory supplies, and generally ensuring smooth operations in the lab. Must coordinate activities with other technicians and lab personnel. Ensures that lab personnel adhere to all biohazard control and laboratory safety protocols. Assists with the maintenance of lab inventories.
Assist lab members and PI with a variety of research projects involving molecular/biochemical approaches and mammalian/bacterial cell culture. Includes compilation and evaluation of data and other information for publications, as requested.
Assist with special lab management projects at the request of the PI. Includes organizing and sending reagents to other institutions, researching and testing equipment and protocols, organizing lab group activities.
