The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Department of Psychiatry, Division of Resident and Student Wellness and Counseling is seeking outstanding applicants for a full-time licensed clinical psychologist faculty position with interest in clinical care, education, and research. The position is an open academic rank position, which will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the candidate. The selected candidate’s primary responsibility will be clinical evaluation and treatment of residents in our institution’s Resident Wellness and Counseling center. The clinician should be especially familiar with evidence based treatments for major psychiatric issues of young adults, including depression and other mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and substance use disorders. In addition, experience in working with interventions which promote wellness (mindfulness, strengths based approaches) is desired. The clinician should be comfortable with and eager to collaborate on an interdisciplinary treatment team with psychiatrists and other mental health clinicians. Additionally, ability to collaborate comfortably with physicians and other healthcare providers across campus is an important characteristic of the work. Establishing outreach, collaboration, and relationships with important stakeholders on campus including the chief residents and program directors of our 25 different residencies and other hospital system leadership will be very important.

This clinical position will also have opportunities to participate in clinical work, research, and teaching in other areas of our department, including our APA accredited Clinical Psychology doctoral and internship programs.
Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent degree from an APA accredited program and must be a licensed psychologist or be license eligible in the state of Texas. Demonstrated expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and other evidence-based treatments is strongly preferred as well as experience in working in a university counseling center, EAP services on a medical or hospital campus, or similar mental health settings.
