Experience and Education

Master's Degree in Nursing from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program and/or Master's Degree in a related health care field.Or completed within 3 years. Five (5) years experience in a health care setting. Preferable a hospital setting.2 years of clinical education experience. A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Job Duties

1. Assist clinical education department leaders in the overall planning, directing and evaluating the activities of the team to include timely, confidential coaching and/or counseling of nursing personnel as appropriate and follows up with accurate reports to Manager. Promotes and enthusiastically supports professional growth of staff by providing equal opportunities for participation in programs, departmental decisions, hospital committees, and/or continuing education.
2. Assist clinical education department leaders with evaluating efficacy and efficiency of clinical educational programs and curricula as well as any associated presentations and learning activities.
3. Models behaviors that reflect life long learning at the local/national level: welcoming students/instructors and identify resources for them, coach staff through clinical advancement processes, fostering the use of evidence-based practice.
4. In conjunction with the managers, directors, and clinical leaders, assess, develop, and implement immediate and future learning needs of the unit/department/organization. Implements programs to meet educational needs, which may include identifying available internal and external resources.
5. Fosters competence and professional growth of staff by facilitating the adoption of practice and policy changes and serving as a role model for interdisciplinary care and education of the patient and family. 'Serves as a resource to clinical leaders by identifying educational needs of staff, as they relate to changes in service, equipment, or technique.
6. Facilitate initial and ongoing competency process for the department. Establish plans for their educational needs and follow up as needed. 'Provides an appropriate environment for learning. Facilitates adult learning principles by planning and presenting educational activities in a variety of styles.
7. Demonstrate continuous performance improvement in targeted areas of responsibility in alignment with the overall annual Hospital performance improvement targets. Supports hospital wide education programs in addition to service line based initiatives.
