Experience and Education
Master's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and five (5) years laboratory experience, including at least two (2) years at level of Research Associate or equivalent.
Bachelor's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and six (6) years laboratory experience, including at least two (2) years at level of Research Associate or equivalent.
Compiles and evaluates research data; develops new or revised techniques and procedures based upon such data.
Performs or supervises design, development, or adaptation of equipment or apparatus used in research experiments to obtain desired results.
Compiles and analyzes results of research assignments, and submits to principal investigator.
Instructs medical students, graduate students, residents, and other laboratory personnel of lower grade with respect to techniques, procedures, and equipment utilized in research or experiments.
Confers with industrial, governmental, or other professional groups with respect to progress or results of research assignment.
Assists principal investigator and other professional personnel in preparation of reports and papers for publication, usually exercising responsibility for writing of particular segment or phase of report or paper.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualified applicant will be expected to independently pursue their own research project as well as provide advice, assistance, and supervision to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the laboratory. In addition to these primary research responsibilities, this individual would also contribute to overall laboratory management, in conjunction with the principle investigator, and other technical and administrative support staff.
The successful candidate would act as a specialist on laboratory methods and equipment functions. The successful candidate would be able to instruct lab members in techniques, instruments, methods, and procedures as well as interact with university regulatory staff to ensure the laboratory meets all regulatory standards.
Candidates with a range of qualifications from a PhD or a Masters and 5 years of experience in some area of biomedical research will be considered. Salary and job title will be commensurate with experience and education level. Previous research experience and evidence of ability to conduct independent research are required.
Experience in the fields of molecular, cellular, and/or developmental biology.
