The Department of Family and Community Medicine has a new chairman with the vision to create a strong, nationally recognized department. The Department of Family and Community Medicine is seeking an outstanding hyperbaric fellow.

Assistant Instructor – Hyperbaric Fellow
• Qualifications: excellent clinical skills, M.D. or D.O. degree, eligibility for or certification by the American Board of Family Medicine or equivalent qualifications in family medicine and Texas medical licensure
• The Hyperbaric Fellow will be trained in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine, which comprises the clinical use of hyperbaric oxygen, wound care, and other uses of hyperbaric oxygen, and the appropriate critical care interventions necessary for the treatment of patients including hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator support, fluid resuscitation and the interpretation of arterial blood gases during therapy.
• Under the direction of the faculty, the Fellow will be responsible for, student and junior house-staff orientation and scheduling, inpatient and outpatient consults, and call for consults and emergencies.
• The Fellow will complete a research project under the guidance of one of the faculty members in the Hyperbaric Medicine Unit and submit an abstract or paper for presentation at a national meeting or for publication.
• The fellow will participate in center conferences, seminars and in the education of medical students, residents, and house-staff who rotate on the service.
• The Fellow will participate in external rotations at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Diving Medicine Course, and / or similar courses and other rotations external to and within Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, UT Southwestern Medical Center, and its affiliates as directed by the fellowship program director.
Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
