Division Chief of Abdominal Imaging

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, ranked the No. 1 hospital in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and the No. 2 hospital in Texas by U.S. News and World Report, is seeking an accomplished, inspirational and energetic radiologist for Chief of the Division of Abdominal Imaging. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Reporting directly to the Vice Chair of Clinical Operations, this individual will lead a dedicated, growth-oriented team of outstanding abdominal radiologists, innovative researchers, and enthusiastic educators who value their close, collaborative relationships with referring services.  Sophisticated programs in leadership development provide unique opportunities for individual and organizational success.

The ideal candidate will be a committed leader with deep expertise in all diagnostic imaging modalities, both from clinical and scientific perspectives, and proficiency in image-guided procedures. The candidate must also meet the following requirements:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or foreign equivalent
• Fellowship training
• Board certification in Diagnostic Radiology with an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Texas

Abdominal Imaging Division, Facilities & Equipment:

• Twenty-three collegial, fellowship-trained, faculty members with broad expertise
• An ACGME-accredited abdominal radiology fellowship program with three annual fellowship positions
• Ergonomic reading stations
• Remote conferencing capabilities to allow participation in virtual resident read-out sessions, lectures, and multidisciplinary conferences
• Industry-leading imaging equipment includes: Nineteen clinical MRI magnets, 22 CTs (including spectral CT systems from two different vendors), 54 ultrasound units, and dedicated research machines
• State-of-the-art PET/MR scheduled to be installed in March 2022
• Photon Counting CT scanner to be purchased within three months

Research Collaboration:

• Opportunities to develop research interests in collaboration with our strong radiology and non-radiology based basic science and clinical teams across the campus
• Current and future research opportunities involving both inflammatory and neoplastic diseases of the solid organs, soft tissues and bowel
• Robust research coaching and mentorship with infrastructure for success for the division
