PROGRAM MANAGER – CLINICAL INFORMATICS

Job Summary

The UT Southwestern Clinical Informatics Center is the leader in developing, implementing, and evaluating effective Clinical Informatics solutions for those in health care and the people/patients that they serve and in educating future clinical informaticians.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Nursing Informatics, Business Administration, Information Technology, health related field or equivalent required.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing, Nursing Informatics or Healthcare Business (MBA or MHA) preferred.
• 7+ years’ healthcare IT (HIT) or IT application experience required.
• One or more of the following certifications preferred: Project Management, HIMSS, ANCC (Informatics), Green Belt, Black Belt or Lean Six Sigma.
• Demonstrated success in delivering excellent customer support.

JOB DUTIES

1. Analyzes, coordinates, and evaluates program operation procedures.
2. Develops and/or oversees development of budget for programs.
3. Develops, cultivates, and maintains working relationships with internal/external departments/agencies and other organizations associated with and/or receiving benefit from programs.
4. Participates in conferences.  Presents data and program information.
5. Manage risks and issues that might arise over the course of the program life cycle and take measures to correct them when they occur.
6. Coordinate the program and interdependencies between the various projects and programs.
7. Responsible for design, execution, and effectiveness of system of internal controls, which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded.
8. Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
9. Keeps relevant with technical, functionality and other program updates.
10. Develops sustainable goals for the programs that are supported.
11. Evaluate and assess the programs’ strengths and weaknesses.
12. Oversee workflow management of program; design, build and test existing / new workflows for various units and departments throughout UTSW.
13. Directly reports to the Director of Nursing Informatics.
14. Hires, trains, motivates and coaches employees.
15. Evaluates employee performance and provides feedback and training opportunities.
16. Collaborate with vendor to develop and administer end user satisfaction programs, including regular end user satisfaction surveys.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.

• Work requires strong project management experience with large complex projects.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed primarily in a hospital or hospital clinic environment. Walking, standing, bending, turning, and stooping.
