Senior Program Coordinator – Psychiatry Department – Pediatrics Division

Departmental Job Description

The Pediatrics Division within the Psychiatry Department is looking to hire a Senior Program Coordinator to administer the day-to-day programmatic aspects of UTSW’s participation in the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC).  The Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC) was created by the 86th Texas Legislature to leverage the expertise and capacity of the health-related institutions of higher education to address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in this state in relation to children and adolescents.

The program coordinator will assist in managing programmatic details and coordinating reporting requirements for the UTSW TCMHCC programs including:

• Child Psychiatry Access Network (CPAN) and Perinatal Psychiatry Access Network (PeriPAN) – providing telehealth-based consultation and training to primary care providers.
• Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT)- providing in-school behavioral telehealth care to at-risk children and adolescents.
• Community Psychiatry Workforce Expansion (CPWE)- funding full-time academic psychiatrists as academic medical directors and new psychiatric resident rotation positions at facilities operated by community mental health providers.
• Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) Fellowship and Workforce Expansion programs    

Experience and Education

• Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Education/Social Science, or related field, and seven (7) years experience in appropriate field required.
• Two (2) years in supervisory capacity preferred. 
• Additional related work experience may be considered in lieu of stated minimum education on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in clinical management and/or grant management/reporting/financials.
• Proficiency with business technology tools (e.g. Excel, Visio)
• Strong organizational and task management skills 
• Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Excellent verbal, writing, research, and client interaction skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to thrive in a fast-pace environment and work under tight deadlines

Job Duties

• Directs, analyzes, coordinates, and evaluates program operation and procedures.
• Develops and/or oversees development of budget for program.
• Develops, cultivates, and maintains working relationships with internal/external departments/agencies and other organizations associated with and/or receiving benefit from program.
• Establishes program goals and objectives and directs program evaluation and quality control activities; develops and/or approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals.
• Recommends new policies and procedures for improvement of program activities.
• Plans and coordinates special events and participates in conferences; presents data and program information.
• Responsible for design, execution, and effectiveness of system of internal controls, which provide reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safe-guarded, and financial information is reliable.
• Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Coordinates training and development of staff as necessary.
• Reads literature and attends functions to keep abreast of relevant scientific and technical developments related to program. 
• Serves on committees as representative of assigned program as appropriate.
• May provide supervision to staff members.
