JOB SUMMARY
This position provides daily direction to clinical staff and non-clinical staff in the Bed Control, EVS Command Ctr Leads that impact patient throughput. Position provides direction for staff to improve throughput, prevent delays, and work with leaders and providers to resolve issues in real-time. Ensures that all aspects of operational and internal control are effective for the department.

  Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program

  5-7 years of nursing acute care nursing experience and
  1-2 years of Care Coordination or Supervisory experience

JOB DUTIES

• Oversees and/or teaches others specialized knowledge and skills necessary to perform techniques and routines in area of specialty. Acts as a preceptor and resource for hospital throughput, inpatient movement, and ED patient placement. Works with Physicians, Nursing, and Administration to prioritize patient flow.
• Provides operational management of daily services to assure high levels of patient satisfaction with a focus on Problem Solving, Accountability, Communication, and Teamwork (PACT). Assists in the management of financial, capital, and human resources.
• Assesses, monitors, and evaluates systems for delivery of care. Leads/participates in departmental performance improvement activities and integration of services on varied shifts
• Assists in development of standards of practice and personnel performance. Ensures services meet established standards of care and quality standards.
• Designs, executes, and delivers effective system of internal controls applicable and in compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures.
• Facilitates teamwork and staff development and staff satisfaction through planned group processes.
• Floats seamlessly between Bed Control, Direct Admission and PFL (Patient Flow Liaison) role and function independently in all areas.
• Apply clinical expertise and nursing process to triage and prioritize admissions from multiple locations: ED, Direct Admits, external transfers and on-site clinics.
• Ensures patient placement process is followed; chart is reviewed when necessary to answer any questions on bed placement and prevent unnecessary bed movements.
• Serves as clinical expert resource for patient placement.
• Collaborates with units and providers regarding any safety concerns and escalates to ANM and Staffing as needed.
• Continually seeks new ways to improve processes, increase efficiencies and takes the initiative to communicate recommendations to Patient Flow Assistant Manager or Manager.
• Receives and reviews all death records for accuracy.
• Assists in sending notification to patient‿s attending re: Death Certification Process
• Assist family re: final arrangements and any further needs, refer to Chaplain or Admin Supervisor as needed.
• Appropriately facilitates bed blocking in coordination with CDAS, unit leadership and maintain documentation in EPIC re: reason for block and all follow-up until room is released.
• Appropriately communicates with provider, patient and unit while managing the direct admission process and ensures there is appropriate documentation to track all communications, processes and needed information for patient to be safely admitted upon arrival to unit.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
