JOB SUMMARY
Works under moderate supervision to provide veterinary medical and surgical services for research animals in accordance with federal laws and other organizational requirements.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
DVM or VMD degree from Accredited Veterinarian Medical Association school, and
Completion of two (2) to three (3) year postdoctoral training program in laboratory animal medicine
- Experience
3 years to five (5) years related veterinary experience.
- Licenses and Certifications
Current license to practice veterinary medicine in the United States Upon Hire
Preferred
- Licenses and Certifications
American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) diplomat Upon Hire
JOB DUTIES
- Provides medical and surgical care for research animals.
- Coordinates health assessments of incoming non-commercial research animals.
- Assists in Institutional Animal Care and Research Advisory Committee protocol reviews.
- Represents Animal Resources Center Director concerning animal health issues in event of his/her absence.
- Communicates with research staff and faculty regarding animal health and welfare.
- Coordinates quarantine and health maintenance of animal colonies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
