Experience and Education
Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant Program. Current Texas (or BNE Compact State) license/certification with recognition by the BNE as an advanced practice nurse if nurse practitioner.
National Nurse Practitioner Certification Prescriptive Authority by the BNE and BME. Advanced Cardiac Life Support accredited by the American Heart Association. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association.
Acute Care Certification required for Nurse Practitioners. .
Job Duties
Obtains medical history, performs physical exams and develops plan of care as appropriate for patients with a malignant hematologic diagnosis.
Organizes and presents historical and physical data, together with evaluations and recommendations in a succinct and concise manner.
Obtains and interprets laboratory tests according to departmental protocols.
Recognizes deviations from normal in-body systems and refers to appropriate medical/social resources.
Orders diagnostic and therapeutic treatments and procedures as appropriate.
Serves as a key member within the health care team as a provider of care led by an attending physician.
Maintains complete and accurate records of contacts with patients in all forms of media.
Performs other duties as assigned.
*Experience in Bone Marrow Transplant a plus.
