Experience and Education

Bachelor degree in a related field or Master's preferred. Seven to ten years progressive responsibility, related experience to include three years in transplant services is required. Financial experience is highly preferred.

Essential/Primary Duties
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the business functions of the Service Line: staff, performance and operations in conjunction with organization's strategic goalsand initiatives. Demonstrates continuous performance improvement in targeted areas of responsibility in alignment with the overall annual Hospital performance improvement targets.
  • Evaluates all financial data both prospectively and retrospectively to ensure that Solid Organ Transplant services are delivered in a cost efficient, competitive, qualitymanner to ensure that the University of Texas Southwestern is properly reimbursed. Analyzes reimbursement levels and makes ongoing modifications to improve reimbursements. Collaborates with the Clinical Director/Managers to plan the operating and capitalequipment budgets for the Service Line. Meets or exceeds financial goals and objectives of the Service Line.
  • In collaboration with Business Operations Administration, assists in negotiation and establishment of contractual arrangements for professional services including Lettersof Agreement with payors. Maintains communication with, and develops strategies to optimize managed care and "center of excellence" contracts with payor. Liaison for all third party payor site visits and survey responses for Service Line.
  • Monitors federal and state legislature and initiatives and evaluates existing policies and ensures that TransplantServices are compliant with the standards of applicable governing bodiesincluding: UNOS/OPTN, CMS Transplant Conditions of Participation, and The Joint Commission. Provides information to appropriate transplant program(s) from governing agencies and oversees flow of service line data from transplant services to proper regulatingagencies outside of University of Texas Southwestern.
  • Directs and manages Service Line business development including the Satellite Clinic initiative. Collaborates with Medical/Surgical Directors to develop short and long range strategic plans. Represents University of Texas Southwestern at appropriate local, regional and National Transplantmeetings.
  • Oversees a transplant-specific QAPI program and plan as mandated by CMS to ensure quality outcomes and continuous process improvement. Conducts frequent periodic reviews of key quality and performance indicators and publishedSRTR center-specific reports with the Medical/Surgical Directors. Ensures that any issues identified are addressed in a timely manner. Works effectively with ancillary departments, Nursing and others to ensure all perspectives and issues are surfaced and proactively addressed.
