Experience and Education


MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, systems engineering, or related technical discipline -OR-
Master's degree in industrial engineering, business or other related discipline
8+ years of experience in industrial engineering, systems engineering, or related discipline
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Health care experience
Lean Six Sigma Black belt certification
Prior experience supervising technical/engineering staff

Job Duties


1. Collaborates with multidisciplinary process improvement teams to provide health systems engineering expertise such as:
Operational support - assisting leadership with internal consulting services and project management
Quality & Patient Experience - analytical/process improvement and reporting support of organizational quality, safety, and patient experience efforts
Clinical performance improvement - clinical decision support, data analysis and facilitating clinical teams with process improvement methods
Performance analytics - developing performance metrics and business intelligence tools, sustaining scorecards and dashboards and turning data into information/knowledge
Using Statistical Process Control to improve clinical productivity
Application of human factors to error prone processes
Performing flow analysis to improve patient appointment scheduling in a clinical setting (using swim lanes, value stream mapping, queuing theory, time driven activity based costing)
Using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to analyze processes and eliminate wastes and defects on a hospital unit
2. Interacts with leadership and clinical teams to support performance improvement activities through:
Uses Team Facilitation approaches to achieve desired objectives
Queries and analyzes data as well as develops visualizations and performs analysis.
Guides information discovery and offers recommendations to enable effective decision making
Surveys internal practice and comparative industry benchmarks to analyze trends and indicators in related areas of work
Develops strategies to help the organization achieve top decile performance
Develops work measurement standards and workforce assessments, identifies labor improvement opportunities and partners with stakeholders on tactics to meet productivity goals
Assists in the development of performance measures, target methodologies and thresholds, and ensures accuracy of measure results
Consults with customer on business needs, translates business needs into analytics/reporting requirements, interfaces with analytics team to ensure successful delivery of reporting, dashboards and information tools.
Safeguards the integrity and security of institutional data
3. Educates others on use of performance improvement and performance excellence skills
Mentors Industrial Engineers in projects and technical support.
Researches to expand knowledge base of methodologies and techniques and assists to develop and educate others
May include the supervision of staff
4. Executes highly complex or specialized projects; adapts precedent and may make significant departures from traditional approaches to develop solutions
