Experience and Education

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or related clinical science required; Master's degree in a related field preferred (MSN, MHA, MBA, MPA). Two (2) years of quality or regulatory compliance experience required. Experience in a clinical setting strongly preferred.

Job Duties

1. Demonstrate continuous performance improvement in targeted areas of responsibility in alignment with the overall annual Hospital performance improvement targets.

2. Meets or exceeds financial goals and objectives of the department.

3. Reviews, evaluates, and investigates patient safety events reported through the event reporting program in conjunction with Assistant Director of Quality, Safety and Compliance. Takes responsibility for seeking and achieving professional growth and continued education.

4. Assures regulatory readiness and compliance with JCAHO, ACoS, NAPBC, CMS, infection control, safety and other regulatory standards, including privacy and security of health information (PHI). Assists with collecting, analyzing and preparing data reports for performance improvement and safety related activities across the Cancer Center. Collaborates with others to ensure appropriate follow-up of patient safety events, documentation of event review and response, for tracking and trending purposes.

5. Demonstrates continuous improvement in targeted areas of responsibility in alignment with overall Cancer Center performance improvement plan and initiatives. Monitors problems, associated quality and safety concerns, and complaint reports to identify needs for improvement; implements corrective actions and monitors.

6. Monitors key quality indicators monthly to detect problems and opportunities for improvement. Serves on process improvement teams as assigned, documents progress, and monitors ongoing status. Reviews all UGSW and Simmons Cancer Center policies, procedures, guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with best practices and regulatory standards, ensuring each are kept current by reviewing timely and submitting to the appropriate Policy and Procedure Committee with any revisions needed.

Duties performed may include one or more of the following core functions: a) Directly interacting with or caring for patients; b) Directly interacting with or caring for human-subjects research participants; c) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting patient records (including patient financial records); or d) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting human-subjects research records.
