Data science analyzes data sources such as electronic health records, claims data, or large clinical registries to better understand the effects of disease and treatments on our patients. This approach plays a crucial role in research by:

• Using advanced statistical methods and machine learning to analyze large datasets from sources like clinical trials and genetic studies. Data science can reveal trends that are not evident through traditional analysis.
• Analyzing existing data and designing more efficient and targeted studies.
• Enabling analysis of complex biological data, leading to new insights into disease mechanisms and potential drug targets.
• Providing data scientists with resources such as the Data Science Shared Resource (DSSR) and the Biostatistics and Data Science Core (BDSC) to support research projects.
