The UT Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry, Center for Depression Research and Clinical Care (CDRC), invites applications for faculty members across all ranks who have a commitment to outstanding graduate education in biostatistics. We welcome innovative scholars who will conduct research for publication in journals and collaborate on projects in mood disorders, public health, developing methodological development, and population-based mood disorders research. This non-tenured position will serve as a core faculty member for the CDRC core.
Qualified candidates should have a doctoral degree in biostatics, statistics, or a closely related field, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidates with a record of extramural grant support, excellence in teaching, community collaboration, and public sector experience are highly preferred, especially in health care or academic medical center environments. In addition, the department welcomes applications from individuals who may have a nontraditional career path or who have achieved career excellence outside of academia. Candidates who bring innovative approaches to the study of any under-explored/unexplored questions broadly related to mood and substance use disorders are encouraged to apply.
The CDRC at UT Southwestern is nationally recognized for its cutting-edge research in mood disorders and associated disorders, such as substance use disorder and anxiety. The research conducted within the Center brings better understanding of the causes of mood and substance use disorders, identifies effective new treatments, and improves existing ones. Built on a quarter-century of research in mood disorders, the CDRC was established in 2015 to realize a future free from the burden of depression. In the last seven years, our Center has demonstrated its impact in lives changed. We have led research into new treatments, including brain and blood tests, for depression and suicide. We have established evidence-based programs that transform our ability to prevent, diagnose, and treat depression. Critically, we have built networks and established research-driven programs that extend our reach to adolescents; addressing youth depression and suicide with mental health promotion and resilience training that encourages a conversation long overdue. We have witnessed the difference our efforts make for people with mental disorders and their families. Such results speak to the value of the work to which we have dedicated ourselves.
The department offers exceptional start-up packages and an intellectually engaging community with a demonstrated track record of supporting and mentoring junior faculty. Candidates will be expected to work within the multidisciplinary team to further the research priorities of the CDRC, including study oversight, grant development, and data interpretation and manuscript preparation. Recruits will have unparalleled access to state-of-the-art core facilities and infrastructure. Successful candidates will have an outstanding postdoctoral record and the potential to develop a vigorous research program. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Please apply online and upload a Curriculum Vitae, research plan (3-page limit) or a cover letter and three letters of recommendation.
