The Radiology Department at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an experienced candidate who will be appointed as an Assistant Professor of Research, MRI Scientist. Specifically, the candidate should have expertise in MRI physics, MR pulse sequence development, image reconstruction, machine learning, and a high level of proficiency in analysis of imaging data.
The successful applicant is expected to have a PhD (or equivalent) in physics, medical physics, or biomedical engineering and documented MRI experience. Candidates applying at the Assistant Professor level should have a minimum of two years of post-doctoral training. Exceptional candidates can apply at the Associate Professor level. Candidates at the Associate Professor level are expected to have a strong publication record and peer reviewed funding.
Faculty members have many opportunities to develop research interests in collaboration with clinical and basic science departments throughout the campus. Strong collaborations with imaging vendors enrich discovery opportunities. Administrative, biostatistical and logistical support are provided. Abundant and compelling resources include a cyclotron, whole body PET/CT and PET/MRI, 3 Tesla MRI, 3D modeling and printing, magnetoencephalography (MEG), small animal imaging, spectral-detector computed tomography, high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), image processing and research PACS, and ongoing artificial intelligence and Deep Machine Learning, including access to high-performance computing facilities.
