The Department of Radiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (Dallas, Texas), is seeking a full-time imaging physicist with the focus on providing expertise in neuroimaging to ongoing translational studies. The Department provides access to dedicated research instruments including, state of the art 3T MRI, 3T PET/MRI, PET/CT and magnetoencephalography. This faculty position will be in the Department of Radiology with an opportunity for a joint appointment within the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME), with access to resources in the new BME facility on the UT Southwestern Medical Center campus (a joint venture with UT Dallas).

This faculty position will be within the Research section within the Department of Radiology with close interactions with scientists in the rest of the Department, as well as scientist in the Advanced Imaging Research Center, and the Biomedical Engineering Department. This faculty member will report directly to the Vice-chair of Research and is expected to work collaboratively with the physicians in the Department of Radiology and other Departments in the Medical Center. This faculty member is also expected to seek extramural funding for independent research as well as participate in collaborative projects and grant applications.  The faculty member is expected to participate in the Department of Radiology education programs.

The applicant is expected to have a PhD (or equivalent) in physics, medical physics, or biomedical engineering and documented experience in advanced neuroimaging such as state-of-the-art techniques in MRI, PET, PET/MRI or A.I. Experience in acquisition and analysis of MRI and PET/MRI data including approaches to image fusion and anatomic coregistration is required. The applicant is expected to understand the critical factors for quantitation in nuclear imaging and use that understanding to develop and implement quantitative imaging programs including minimizing scanner dependent errors and optimizing image reconstruction methods. Expertise in artificial intelligence applications to PET and PET/MRI data is strongly favored.

Candidates applying at the Assistant Professor level should have a minimum of two years of post-doctoral training. Exceptional candidates can apply at the Associate Professor level. Candidates at the Associate Professor level are expected to have a strong publication record and peer reviewed funding in the areas described above.

Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule.
