Job Number: 799464
Category: Faculty and Physicians
Profile
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Division of Psychology is seeking an outstanding clinical or counseling psychologist for a position in our Multi-Specialty Outpatient Clinic (MSOC). The position is primarily clinical, and we are looking for a team-orientated psychologist who has interest in honing their skills as a psychotherapist and developing a practice catered to specialty populations and diagnoses. You will join a diverse multidisciplinary therapy team that consists of psychologists, counselors, social workers, and marriage and family therapists who work collaboratively with psychiatrists and advanced practice providers (APPs) toward meeting the diverse mental health needs of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Our Subspecialty Clinic
The Multispecialty Outpatient Clinic (MSOC) houses several specialty teams servicing various diagnoses and clinical needs. These include teams focused on Addiction and Substance Abuse, Sleep Hygiene, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders, Women’s Health, Eating Disorders, Geriatrics, Emerging and Young Adults, Early Onset Psychosis Treatment, Functional Neurological Disorders, Medical Complexity and Pain Psychology. In addition to searching for individuals to join these established teams, we are also looking for clinicians with interest in developing new programs around Trauma, Adult Autism Spectrum Disorder and Neurodivergence, Anxiety, LGBTIQ identity concerns, ADHD, and those interested in working with diverse specialty populations. There will also be opportunities to develop group therapy programs around these different specialty populations.
As the clinic is housed in an academic medical center, we support individuals in their professional development. In order to maintain clinician wellness, we encourage psychologists to be members of multiple subspeciality teams as this allows for diversity of caseload and the development of new clinical skills. If interested, you may have opportunities to conduct assessments for pre-surgical evals, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as using testing to aid in differential diagnoses.
Teaching
UT Southwestern has an APA Accredited Doctoral Program in Clinician Psychology as well as an APA Accredited Internship that provides opportunities for teaching. There are also opportunities for supervision of psychology interns/practicum students, psychiatry residents, and social work fellows. Involvement in research is encouraged, and many opportunities exist for collaborative research efforts across the department.
Qualifications
Eligible candidates must hold a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program and have completed an APA-accredited internship. While Texas licensure is not required for consideration or selection, it is a pre-requisite for starting in the position.
