Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship
The UT Southwestern Pediatric Critical Care APP Fellowship program is a 12-month intensive training program that includes various didactic, simulation, and clinical educational opportunities, preparing Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and Physician Assistants to provide high-quality pediatric critical care. The APP Fellow will train primarily at Children’s Medical Center, Dallas which provides quaternary-level care for children in the Dallas Ft. Worth metropolitan area and act as primary referral center for the region. Fellows will care for a wide range of critical care cases in our high-volume ICUs with significant exposure to advanced modes of mechanical ventilation, CRRT, solid organ transplants, complex cardiac cases, ECMO, neurocritical care, and trauma.
During the fellowship, the Pediatric Critical Care Fellows are full time employees of UT Southwestern Medical Center that receive benefits, including paid time off, continuing education funds, and low cost comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Fellows receive a competitive annual stipend in the amount of $95,000.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
· Master’s degree or higher in nursing, documentation of completion of accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.
· Graduate of a master’s degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
**Candidates must graduate from their advanced practice program by December 2024. For new or upcoming graduates, board certification and licensure are not required at the time of application. There must be a clear plan to obtain certification and licensure immediately after graduation by February 1, 2025.
JOB DUTIES
· Conducts and documents comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status.
· Synthesizes data and utilizes evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results.
· Demonstrates proficiency in technical/procedural skills, as appropriate based on specialty and training.
· Provides relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures.
· Facilitates/participates in quality related initiatives through planned group processes, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings, to improve clinical and system practice performance.
· Collaborates in research projects and protocols; and routinely applies evidence based best practices to patient care.
· Attends and participates in assigned educational activities
· Completes a scholarly project assigned during the fellowship program
· Performs other duties as assigned
· Accuracy and ability to exercise considerable judgment.
· Ability to maintain current customer service, clinical, and technical skills.
· Ability to identify opportunities and provide suggestions for improvements in departmental policy, procedures, and protocols.
· Proficient use of EMR in the delivery of care
