EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
High School Diploma and - Experience
Three (3) to Five (5) years or greater experience as Central Sterile Technician or Scrub Tech
- Licenses and Certifications
Certification as either Sterile Processing Tech (CBSPD or IAHCSMM), or Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA or NCCT).
JOB DUTIES
- Coordinate the oversight of daily activities between the OR and sterile processing department to facilitate efficient case flow. Promote collaboration between the OR and sterile processing by providing customer service/satisfaction through training, education and resolutions of staff and physician issues.
- Reviews the daily surgery schedule and communicates with the SPD department of additional instrument needs throughout the day and ensures these items are available.
- Records tray errors, case cart audits, tray audits and presents copy to SPD manager.
- Reports all issues to the SPD manager or supervisor.
- Develops working relationship with OR clinical leads and surgeons.
- Transports Sterilized instrumentation to the O.R. as needed.
- Support hospital preference card coordinators through regular reporting of related issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
