Advanced Practice Provider for the Inpatient Advanced Heart Failure/Mechanical Circulatory Support and Heart Transplant Service:
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is looking to expand its Inpatient APP Cardiology Service Line. We are looking for an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. The APP will practice primarily with the inpatient Advanced Heart Failure Service but will be cross-trained to function across the entire inpatient cardiology service line. Cross coverage will include the advanced heart failure/MCS/heart transplant and general cardiology services. 13-hour shifts with weekend/holiday coverage are required and will be divided among the APP teams.
The APP will primarily manage patients with advanced heart failure, some of whom are recovering from heart transplant or durable left ventricular assist device (LVAD) surgery or have been re-admitted with complications of these therapies.
Opportunities for professional development in a growing APP inpatient cardiology service line, including research and protocol development, are offered and highly encouraged. Collaboration with Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologists, Cardio-thoracic Surgeons, and Fellows with full participation in the heart transplant and LVAD multi-disciplinary teams is expected. Prior experience in cardiac critical care is a plus.
