This role involves leading research projects, including experimental design, execution, and analysis. The successful applicant will supervise lab members and manage key leadership responsibilities:
· Establish independent research projects, present at scientific meetings, write peer-reviewed publications.
· Demonstrate ability and desire to develop grantsmanship skills for the preparation of competitive funding proposals.
· Form part of multidisciplinary research collaborations.
· Educate new trainees.
· Oversee the maintenance of the laboratory in collaboration with other lab members.
The applicant will manage data collection, cleaning, validation, analysis, modeling, and visualization, with a focus on statistical analysis and graphical representation. They will develop analytic solutions to provide data-driven insights for evaluating human movement technology, setting improvement goals after clinical interventions, and supporting strategic decision-making. Collaboration will occur with researchers at CHST and the Departments of Anesthesiology and Physical Therapy at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
As a clinical role, he will help coordinate and implement the MARS system technology in the therapy spaces throughout Children’s Health and UTSW medical Center as the need arises. Helping clinicians work with and understand the technology.
The applicant will coordinate research efforts across diverse professionals to develop and validate testing models, gather data aligned with gold standards, and ensure its accuracy and relevance. The applicant will lead research on movement-based technology that integrates behavioral and psychological health measures, focusing on its clinical implementation, reliability, and sensitivity in predicting health outcomes. The will analyze data to assess performance, improve interventions, and identify key drivers, presenting findings through graphical representations to various stakeholders. Additionally, he will serve as the “voice of the data” in quality improvement teams, ensuring accurate interpretation and insights, while continuously evaluating the clinical utility of movement-based technologies.
The ideal candidate holds a PhD in a basic science, with 2-5 years of postdoctoral research experience in anesthesiology, surgery, or related fields. The Human Movement Scientist position requires a PhD in Kinesiology or a related field with clinical experience in Athletic Training or Physical Therapy.
