The Department of Surgery Section of Anatomy at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center seeks applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track position. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
The successful candidate will be joining a highly interactive and collegial group of faculty with a strong teaching program for the Medical School and the School of Health Professions. Teaching responsibilities will include participation in lectures, dissection laboratory, active learning sessions, and student assessment in Human Gross Anatomy. Dissections take place in a new, state-of-the-art teaching laboratory, which provides an optimal learning environment. The laboratory is equipped with downdraft tables and an advanced AV system, which allows for the integration of digital content, such as radiographic images, videos, and electronic atlases. The design of the space supports collaboration and teamwork amongst the learners. The candidate is expected to participate in collaborative research within their area of expertise and/or the scholarship of teaching and learning and contribute to the generation of new knowledge in their field.
Successful applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D. degree in the biomedical sciences or other anatomically related fields and experience teaching human gross anatomy. Candidates should have experience developing curricula, especially implementing active learning experiences with clinically relevant content. While not necessary, it would be desirable if the candidate has prior embryology teaching experience.
