JOB SUMMARY
Lead position working under moderate supervision to master essential job functions.

This position will be responsible for processing laboratory samples, data entry, including lab test orders and test results for certification. This position will be involved with patient data, including patient demographics and lab orders. They will assume the duties of ordering supplies and keeping the area stocked with essential items.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required

• Education
  High School Diploma or GED equivalent

• Experience
  2 years of experience in a clinical or laboratory environment

JOB DUTIES

• Performs more complex processing procedures in a clinical laboratory relieving technologists/technicians of routine duties and responsibilities. Functions as a lead in the laboratory and acts as a point of reference in the absence of a supervisor.
• Processes laboratory samples according to procedure and if applicable, enters manual billing in a timely manner. Accurately enters laboratory test orders and lab rest results for certification by technologists and monitors incoming reports and status of lab testing.
• Assists in other areas of laboratory as needed, which may include performing phlebotomy, greeting patients, entering data of patient demographics and lab order instructions, entering appropriate codes and prices for patient requisitions, and labeling and processing patient specimens accurately and distributing to appropriate areas of laboratory.
• Assists in training of personnel of a lower rank.
• Keeps area stocked with essential supplies.
• Keeps work area decontaminated with proper cleaning solutions and disposal of wastes and trash in appropriate containers.
• Duties performed may include one or more of the following core functions: (a) Directly interacting with or caring for patients; (b) Directly interacting with or caring for human-subjects research participants; (c) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting patient records (including patient financial records); or (d) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting human-subjects research records.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
