JOB SUMMARY
The Simmons Cancer Center at UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a skilled and strategic Network Operations Manager to oversee the development and management of the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) affiliate networks supporting oncology clinical trials. This role is responsible for building and enhancing functionality and infrastructure to advance these initiatives, including managing the CPRIT Network Award. The position also directs the organizational and operational activities of clinical trials conducted at SCCC regional clinics and affiliate sites, with oversight of the Community Oncology Program disease-oriented team (DOT) activities. The incumbent will establish performance standards and expectations for managers, supervisors, and staff, and will conduct periodic assessments to ensure these standards are met, fostering excellence and growth across the program.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required

• Education
  
  • Master’s Degree in science, social science, healthcare administration, or a related field 

• Experience
  
  • 5 years of experience managing clinical trials -AND-
  • Experience managing Oncology clinical trials 
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of Masters degree. 

JOB DUTIES

• Oversee the organizational and operational activities of the Disease-Oriented Teams (DOTs). Develop performance standards and expectation for DOT managers and teams, and periodically assess the attainment of these standards.
• Consult with DOT managers and faculty leaders to set performance expectations for research nursing and technical staff managing oncology clinical trials. Works with the Quality Assurance and Education Manager to identify, develop and evaluate key core competencies of clinical research personnel in an effort to tailor training needs.
• Maintain peer-level working relationships with faculty and academic departments across UTSW to oversee the conduct of oncology clinical trials. Fulfill duties of DOT managers in their absence.
• Oversee the financial and administrative resources available for the management of clinical oncology trials by DOTs, working closely with Cancer Center leadership, staff and faculty from various departments with UTSW Medical Center.
• Develop budget, fee, cost recovery and revenue recommendations for DOT functions. Work with DOT Managers to analyze and review study budgets to ensure that all studies are fiscally sound and that all study costs are recovered or minimized.
• Develop and implement best practices for DOT compliance and assurance. Develop and manage all DOT internal monitoring programs to ensure compliance with the Simmons Cancer Center DSMC as well as all relevant rules, regulations and policies.
• May coordinate and oversee the development and management of UTSW Simmons Cancer Center affiliate networks as it relates to the conduct of oncology clinical trials. Includes building out new functionality and infrastructure to support these activities.
• Recommends new and updates to existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
