The position includes teaching, and developing the associated graduate curriculum, in the MCN-CP and MS-NH programs. Assigned classes may be in person or online. Responsibilities also include advising graduate students, clinical research, clinical service, as well as departmental, school, and university committee service. Nutrition faculty model academic, clinical and research expertise, in addition to innovative teaching and learning opportunities.
Candidates are expected to make professional contributions and engage in service. The successful candidate will demonstrate a solid commitment to academic excellence.
Essential Job Functions
• Teaches assigned course(s) by delivering appropriate course content to students, preparing course materials and lesson plans, grading student work, providing students with robust feedback in a timely manner, and addressing students’ questions and concerns
• Prepares and maintains course site in the learning management system for dissemination of course materials, assessments, and grades
• Maintains accurate records of student attendance, academic achievement and performance in accordance with university policies and procedures
• Distributes to each student, in each course, via the learning management system, a university-approved syllabus that includes course objectives, texts, attendance policy and materials required for course and evaluation criteria
• Communicates early with the student, department chair, and academic counselor for any student in danger of failure or in need of individual counseling, using appropriate university systems
• Assists with scheduling of clinical rotations including serving as liaison to clinical sites, facilitating student on-boarding at clinical sites, and managing students at clinical sites.
• Serves as clinical preceptor for students as needed
• Refers students to appropriate university sources for information, guidance, financial assistance, career services, library services, academic support, accessibility services, counseling, and other support services
• Attends faculty orientation and meetings, as requested by the department, school, or university
• Participates in commencement exercises each December
• Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• Master’s degree in nutrition & dietetics or a related field of study
• Registered Dietitian credential
• Successful candidates must be committed to working effectively with student populations from a variety of backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
• Terminal degree in nutrition & dietetics or a related field of study
Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a daily commuting distance of the UT Southwestern campus location upon hire.
