Position Overview:
University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, a nationally recognized leader in pediatric healthcare, is seeking a dynamic and visionary Medical Director of Kidney Transplant to lead our comprehensive Pediatric Kidney Transplant Program. This is a unique opportunity to oversee one of the largest and well-established pediatric transplant programs in the country, serving a diverse patient population.
The ideal candidate will bring exceptional clinical expertise, a strong academic track record, and leadership skills to guide the program’s continued growth in innovation, outcomes, research, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide overall clinical leadership and strategic direction for the Pediatric Kidney Transplant Program.
· Collaborate with a high-performing, multidisciplinary team including transplant nephrologists, transplant surgeons, transplant coordinators, social workers, dietitians, pharmacists, and other pediatric specialists.
· Oversee all aspects of pre-transplant evaluation, transplant care, and long-term follow-up for pediatric kidney transplant recipients.
· Ensure compliance with UNOS, CMS, and other regulatory requirements, champion best practices in safety, quality, and outcomes.
· Collaborate closely with hospital leadership and institutional partners to advance program development and patient-centered care.
· Drive research initiatives, clinical trials, and/or quality improvement projects related to pediatric transplantation.
· Mentor trainees, junior faculty, and support educational efforts within the program and the division of pediatric nephrology.
· Represent the transplant program in institutional, regional, national, and international forums.

· MD or DO with board certification in Pediatric Nephrology
· Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Texas.
· Minimum of 3 years post-fellowship clinical experience in pediatric kidney transplantation.
· Prior leadership or directorship experience in a transplant setting strongly preferred.
· Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, teaching, research, and/or quality improvement.
· Strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills.
