The Department of Family and Community Medicine at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is seeking to fill a fellowship position. The Community Medicine Fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center is a 12 month or 24-month fellowship depending on whether the fellow already has a Master in Public Health (MPH). The fellow has the option of obtaining a MPH from UT Southwestern O’Donnell School of Public Health. The fellowship is a non ACGME accredited training program approved by the Texas Medical Board.
The fellow will collaborate in service-learning opportunities among underserved population in the Dallas County area, teach innovative population-based health care practices (such as Shared Medical Appointments) to residents/faculty in the department of Family Medicine, and Participate in the Faculty Development Academic Activities in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UTSW. These activities include clinical teaching, curricular design, presentation skills, professional academic development and research/scholarly activity skills.
Clinical assignments include care for patients assigned in the Parkland Family Medicine Clinic under supervision of FM faculty and Community Medicine teachers, community clinics and supervising FM residents in the Parkland Family Medicine Clinic (junior preceptor).
The fellow will also participate in research activities which include community-based participatory research projects involving community partners, gathering and analyzing data and disseminating the results in local and national professional meetings.
