JOB SUMMARY
The Research Operations Coordinator will collaborate with faculty, research staff, and administrative personnel from both institutions, UT Dallas and UT Southwestern, to oversee operations and maintenance of shared equipment, and to coordinate and implement policies and procedures governing shared resources within the Texas Instruments – Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (TI-BMES) Building. The role also includes ensuring compliance with institutional and governmental regulations related to research activities conducted in this collaborative environment.

JOB DUTIES
1. Building Operations & Emergency Management (in collaboration with support team at TI-BMES)
· Troubleshoot facility-related issues and coordinate timely resolutions.
· Serve as a contact for faculty, staff, and students regarding building-related concerns.
· Conduct regular building inspections to identify and address maintenance issues.
· Coordinate and manage renovations and space modifications.
· Maintain and update building maps and operational documentation.
· Collaborate with access control teams to manage and update access levels.
2. Shared Equipment Core Operations (TI-BMES – Equipment Core)
· Oversee operations of shared lab spaces, ensuring appropriate use, cleanliness, and compliance with policies and regulations.
· Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training protocols in partnership with instrument vendors and faculty.
· Ensure users meet all training and safety requirements before accessing shared resources.
· Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate timely repairs.
· Serve as point of contact for vendors and external stakeholders regarding equipment repair and service, deliveries, relocations, and installations.
· Schedule equipment training sessions and demonstrations (virtual and in-person).
· Provide hands-on training for key equipment such as autoclaves, dishwashers, gas manifolds and scientific instrumentation as experience and training allows.
· Assess faculty needs to determine optimal shared space assignments and assist with laboratory setup.
· Manage scheduling platforms and coordinate billing through iLabs in collaboration with the finance team.
3. Regulatory Compliance & Institutional Liaison
· Coordinate with UTSW’s regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to institutional safety and operational policies, supporting compliance for research activities in shared lab spaces and shared equipment compliance.
· Serve as liaison for Facilities Management and OSBC on building and safety matters.
· Serve as the main contact for Asset Management teams for TI-BMES shared equipment.
4. Reporting & Administrative Tasks (in collaboration with support team at TI-BMES)
· Prepare reports tracking shared equipment usage and inter-institutional collaborations.
· Contribute to the annual space survey in compliance with institutional requirements.
· Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.
