JOB SUMMARY
Works under minimal supervision to provide responsible technical assistance in performance of assignments requiring basic knowledge of techniques and practices related to particular field of science.
The Biochemistry Research Technician 2 will support departmental research by performing experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, and assisting with data collection and analysis. The role involves working closely with principal investigators and research staff to ensure accurate, reproducible results and compliance with lab safety and regulatory standards. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong background in biochemistry techniques, molecular biology, and protein analysis who are eager to contribute to cutting-edge research.
Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field, up to two years experience (paid or unpaid) in a lab; proficiency in biochemistry and molecular biology techniques; strong organizational and data documentation skills; familiarity with laboratory equipment and maintenance and calibration; knowledge of laboratory safety and compliance regulations; and, ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.

JOB DUTIES
- Performs routine scientific and medical research work in science area such as biology, chemistry, physics, or other related scientific field.
- Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
- Records research data in accordance with prescribed procedures, discussing results with supervisor.
- Assists in collection of data for project reports.
- Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning implementation of new procedures.
- May plan for, and provide working supervision to, work of laboratory personnel of lower grade engaged in limited phase of research project.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
