The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Division of Psychology is seeking outstanding applicants for a psychologist faculty position with interests in clinical care, education, research, and wellness-focused outreach.
The selected candidate’s primary responsibility will be clinical evaluation and treatment of students in our institution’s Student Wellness and Counseling Clinic and residents in our Resident Wellness and Counseling Clinic. The clinician should be especially familiar with evidence-based treatments for major psychiatric issues of young adults, including depression and other mood disorders, anxiety disorders, attention deficit disorders, and substance use disorders, as well as situational/academic issues. In addition, experience working with interventions which promote wellness (mindfulness, strengths-based approaches) is desired.
Applicants with interest, training, and experience working with students from a variety of backgrounds are encouraged to apply, and bilingual Spanish-English ability is desired. The clinician should be comfortable with and eager to collaborate on an interdisciplinary treatment team with psychiatrists and other mental health clinicians. Additional responsibilities may include assistance in outreach and wellness programs. This position may also have opportunities to participate in teaching and/or supervision in other areas of the Department, including our APA accredited Clinical Psychology doctoral program.
Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent degree from an APA accredited program. While Texas licensure is not required for consideration or selection, it is a pre-requisite for starting in the position. Demonstrated expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and other evidence-based treatments is strongly preferred as well as experience working in a university counseling center, EAP services on a medical or hospital campus, or similar mental health settings.
