JOB SUMMARY
UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a fellowship-trained Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Critical Care Flex Team at Clements University Hospital. This unique role is designed for clinicians who enjoy variety, adaptability, and the opportunity to practice across multiple high-acuity critical care environments while maintaining a primary home base in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU).
Working under physician supervision and in collaboration with multidisciplinary critical care teams, the APP will provide comprehensive management of critically ill patients across a variety of ICU specialties. The Critical Care Flex APP serves as a dedicated clinical resource, providing coverage for staffing vacancies, leaves of absence, onboarding transitions, and other operational needs throughout the health system. Unlike a traditional float pool position, APPs are embedded within the teams they support, allowing for meaningful continuity of care and integration into each service line. Assignments typically range from 2 to 5 months in duration.
This role is ideal for an APP who is clinically versatile, demonstrates strong emotional intelligence, and thrives in dynamic environments. The position offers exposure to diverse patient populations, ICU specialties, and collaborative care teams while supporting one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers.
Schedule: Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts with weekend and holiday coverage required. Flexible availability is essential to support multiple critical care service lines. Advance scheduling is provided whenever possible.
Required Qualification: Completion of a Critical Care APP Fellowship or Residency Program is required.
