JOB SUMMARY
Moncrief Cancer Institute is a part of UT Southwestern Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, which is the only National Cancer Institute-designated center in North Texas. The role of the Ambulatory RN Coordinator is a clinical nurse navigator providing navigation services to patients participating in the colorectal cancer screening program. Clinical care provided by the Ambulatory RN is primarily indirect patient contact (limited direct patient care, patient navigation specific) with hybrid work flexibility. The Ambulatory RN will be responsible for providing education using motivation interviewing that align with cancer screening guidelines; assessing barriers to clinical care and diagnostic follow-up; navigating patients to care for screening and follow-up care available within their county (gastroenterology, oncology, or surgical providers); and arranging for payment of clinical services. The Ambulatory RN should be proficient in guiding individuals through screening and subsequent diagnostic evaluation using communication and behaviors that are culturally appropriate for rural and urban populations. The Ambulatory RN should also be highly skilled in case management and/or clinical care coordinator roles. Bilingual preferred but not required.
