This position will assist the Director of Infection Prevention in accomplishing the overall enhancements to the current infection prevention program, and will account for appropriately 50% of their effort, including: academic detailing and implementation of infection control and process improvement efforts to reduce healthcare-associated infections and sepsis morality; implementation of outbreak response efforts and reduction of multi-drug resistant organisms; enhancement of clinician education with regard to infection control principles, interpretation of epidemiologic data, and clinical safety and effectiveness; improvement of data infrastructures and data reporting, enhancement of collaboration with other clinical an non-clinical departments and programs at Parkland to improve infectious outcomes; evaluating cost-value outcomes for infection prevention efforts; and implementation of efforts to improve utilization of infection surveillance tests and processes. The balance of their effort will be providing infectious diseases in patient care activities at PHHS, as well as the teaching and training of medical students, house staff, and fellows.
· M.D. degree, or equivalent from an approved LCME medical school and satisfactory completion of an Internal Medicine residency program from an ACGME accredited program.
· Level of appointment will be commensurate with experience.
· Candidate must be eligible for Texas medical licensure and be board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
